Nine-banded Armadillo

Yesterday, while birding, I had the priviledge of running into a 4 pack of armadillo youngsters, hanging out on the trail, doing their armadillo thing.  These guys were simply adorable, and they’re the official small mammal of Texas! Nine-banded armadillos always have quadruplets; 4 identical babies, which have split from one fertilized egg.  I was happy to see all four babies doing well.  This was a serious squeal moment.

Um, it’s the cutest thing in the world, snooting around for grubs!

Count the bands!
